From 139,00 kr.
Sucre D’or is an old classic with the flavour of bergamot. The candy is often known under the name Althea.
Description
Sucre D’or, which translates from French as “sugar of gold,” is a classic candy that originates from bergamot oranges. For many, the taste is familiar from Earl Grey tea or Althea candies. With its fruity citrus sweetness, it’s a candy many remember from childhood visits to grandparents, where it was often the sweet treat placed on the coffee table. The name is commonly associated with “Althea” candies. During World War II, when bergamot oil was unavailable, Althea oil, derived from the root of the marshmallow plant (Althea Officinalis), was used as a substitute. After the war, when bergamot oil became available again, the name “Althea” stuck in people’s minds, and it continued to be associated with these candies.
