Description
Our Bismarck candies taste of peppermint and provide a refreshing flavour in your mouth. The all-natural and strong peppermint oil we use gives these candies an intense, fresh peppermint taste that you won’t find elsewhere. This candy didn’t get its name from General Bismarck, but from the upper bourgeoisie over 100 years ago when peppermint oil first arrived in Denmark. In these circles, it was considered elegant to sprinkle German words into conversation. One day, when a candy maker accidentally spilled some peppermint oil onto the production table, the candy he was making took on a peppermint flavour. Someone exclaimed, “Es harbe ein bismach” – “It has an aftertaste.” And thus, the candy became known as Bismarck.
